I have just migrated my #Mastodon instances storage backend, essentially synced two S3 buckets and swapped credentials / host and it went pretty smoothly.
@marcus ooooh, this sounds interesting. I’m having to think about storage space at the minute. Any specific docs you were following for that? Did you start with S3 from the get-go or were you using local storage first and migrated to S3?
@mo with this instance I started with S3 from the beginning, but I just moved the buck to private cloud (self hosted). I've seen a tutorial somewhere on how to actually migrate from local storage to S3. Depending on the data this can take some time though.
