@schwa @jonstodle @amyworrall I think we effectively have this in the UK as well. I’m pretty confident that there was a requirement for a 2 year warranty by EU law. I was also watching something recently that said that UK law requires products to be fit for purpose for a reasonable period of time. If, for example, Apple provide OS updates for your phone for 7 years, a hardware failure within 7 years is not fit for purpose.

@mo @schwa @jonstodle @amyworrall do you have one or more cases at hand where this reasoning was followed by a court?
Because under EU law, it can already be challenging to get the two years acknowledged. So given the bickering of having to adhere to EU minimal standards throughout the Leave campaign, I’d be (very pleasantly!) surprised if UK customer protection laws would surpass these.
