@chartier the folks on the subreddit banging on about Bear 2 taking too long we’re doing my head in. It’s like they paid for a month’s subscription of v1and immediately said “I demand version 2 now!” Even people who were long term subscribers had this attitude of “ive been paying all this time for Bear 2, where is it?” There’s a real cognitive dissonance there. Your ongoing subscription is not a down payment on the next version!
@chartier you’re doing it exactly the way I think it should be done. I’ve often wondered about working for Shiny Frog. Not sure I have the technical skills anymore, and I’m probably too addicted to AdTech money!
@mo Yeah it’s certainly a small indie dev shop, no VC, etc etc. Just doing our thing and thankful enough people like it. 😄
@mo Yeah, working with the team and being on the comms team, that stuff can... wear you down. Even The Verge's headline took a dig at it.
It's one of the things that bugs me so much about today's culture of boom-and-bust VC investments and “work till you die" startup culture.
Like, we didn't take VC. We aren't hiring 100 people per month and installing pool tables and beer taps in our cafeteria. We're just a regular business making a thing we love for people. Sigh.
