While the divorce was proceeding slowly with the ex, Jamie and I always discussed marriage. This year has seen his best friends descend into madness as he has planned his insanely expensive upcoming wedding, which Jamie's part of. Divorce and wedding are both next month and suddenly talk has turned to us never getting married.

I like the legal protection of marriage, which is why I did it in the first place. It's not needed with Jamie, cos no kids. I need to decide how important it is to me.

@intheseheels Marriage for me felt like formally declaring my choice of life partner to the rest of society. I liked that aspect.

Changing my name caused so many hassles, some of which are still popping up all these years later, that I don’t think I’d choose that again.
