We've been talking about this idea of moving to Ireland with the kids and they're somewhat on board (adventure and such), but the idea of having to go to school after bothers them a lot. Side effect of homeschooling their entire life is they have no idea what school is like but they are pretty damn sure they DO NOT WANT.

I think homeschooling is legal there, actually (maybe with some oversight or something). So maybe if we did this we could sort of... ease into it for a year or something... but probably with a big move like this it would make sense for them to get better integrated into the culture by actually going to school normally.

The number of things to consider with a move like this is just mind boggling. I can't get my head around the logistics of it at all. Not just the schooling thing, but like... everything.

Obviously lots of people have made these sorts of moves.. but I don't really know...... how.

3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats which would somehow have to move. A house, car, various house-things like lawnmowers, etc, all would need to be sold off BEFORE leaving.. somehow hundreds of pounds of "stuff" would need to move while hundred of other items would probably end up in a dumpster. Like... how?

And there's just endless things, it seems.. like.. what happens to stuff like my retirement accounts here that are in IRAs or whatever? Does it stay here? What happens to stuff like my Apple ID which has always been tied to the US with our literally thousands of dollars of content that has been unlocked on my IDs over the years.. etc.

@bigzaphod pro tip. Best not to talk about your IRAs in Ireland… 😜
