While looking over streaming service prices tonight, I see that it looks like Disney+ is increasing their price in early December. If you get the yearly subscription before then, you get locked in to the current price for a year.

I only happened to notice that our annual Disney+ sub was renewing in a couple of days so I went seeing how that Hulu+Disney bundle stuff looked - but it's better for us to keep this Disney+ sub locked in since we usually only stay with Hulu for a few months at a time.

Aside: I find it totally ridiculous that the streaming companies are adding subscription tiers with ads now. I hate how every single service is being degraded with this crap. It's getting to where it's hard to even pay to avoid ads - now you get to pay and STILL SEE ADS!

@bigzaphod every time I get annoyed about ads, I remember that they allow access to people who might not otherwise be able to afford the service.

@mo I'm not sure that's going to happen in Disney's case. I'm pretty sure that several years ago the base Hulu subscription was ad-free, but then they added ads to it and kept the same monthly fee only to move the ad-free service to a new, higher price tier. So that doesn't really help anyone who couldn't afford it before. Of course places like Tubi that are *only* ad supported are different - but that's not my complaint.

@bigzaphod @mo Was just complaining yesterday about AppleTV Siri search results that say Amazon Prime but then shunt to their Freevee “channel” w/ ads.
