What was your first experience of the internet?

I was working in the US, c 1997. There was one online computer in the office - using Netscape. I'd go online when I got into work to read what had happened in Brookside. Little images with text underneath, like a comic strip.
I thought it was amazing.

@BeebsyMcA 1996. I just started at Queen's. I went into the library, sat down at a computer to see what it was all about. I'm still learning.

It probably saved me a lot of money as a student. Meant I spent my evenings in front of a computer instead of getting drunk or having a social life.

@seanddotmedotuk @BeebsyMcA I’m pretty sure I saw you a few times in the Science Library or at the OAC in the Ashby.

@mo @BeebsyMcA That's quite possible. I usually hung out at the David Bates Building though and after they decommissioned the DECstations, I went to the Seamus Heaney library.

@seanddotmedotuk @BeebsyMcA I definitely hung around the Heaney library as I was living in the Holylands from 2nd year onwards.
