Tried to give some examples of girls being ‘Rock stars’ instead of ‘pop stars’ And realised most of my references are from the 90s

My go to references at least: the kims, sleater-Kinney etc

@iain @mo There aren’t many good rock bands around at the minute, let alone ones that feature women. It’s a dormant genre.

@theronster @mo and even bands like haim are doing really shit choreographed dances on now

@iain @mo I’ve nothing against choreography, but if it’s SHIT choreography… well.

@theronster @mo the point was to counter the claim (from a 5 year old) that girls are pop stars, boys are rock stars - so I’m counting anything non pop as ‘rock’ and there are lots of women doing interesting things in non-pop genres but they may be a bit experimental for a 5 year old

@iain @mo What about The Linda Lindas? I really, really liked their first couple of EPs, even if I didn’t fully love the album they put out this year.
