I was born 2 years before this programme was made about the punk scene in Belfast.
If you’re from here, you just might recognise a few younger versions of local characters.
Another one, with a lot of the same faces. Johnny Hero, Petesy Burns, many faces I recognise but can’t put names to.
Is it possible to be nostalgic for something you never experienced?
I started playing in bands that often played gigs with folks from these videos in attendance - they never gave up on punk rock, still went to gigs all the time, and with neck t to no prompting would regale you with stories of being in bands in the late 70s and early 80s.
For me, at the time, it was like hanging out with The Beatles.
@theronster I’m nostalgic for the 80s in such a weird way. I was only a kid but I look back fondly as though I lived it as an adult.
@shezza_t @theronster I have a nostalgia for the 70s too, but not to the same extent. Though it’s probably as strong a feeling given that I was 3 years old when the 70s ended!
