I got my set of final volumes today. They are huge, staggering, beautiful, amazing, gorgeous. It is almost impossible to believe they are real after so many years, so many hours.
The CAN U BELIEVE IT part is that we, Marcin (author/designer/publisher/photographer) and me (editor/print & etc. project manager), started settling a final schedule in spring/summer 2022. We nailed down the printer in fall with a tentative 2023 schedule. We hit the Kickstarter in February. We printed in July, bound in August/September. We are about 2 weeks behind our schedule for U.S. deliveries, 4 for international, after that period of time. I am…very happy about that.
@glennf disappointing news about the UK VAT number. I mentioned it in passing to my (accountant) wife and she exclaimed “I KNOW! I’ve had clients waiting for ages for their VAT number. It used to take 2 weeks and now can be 6 months”. Will be worth the wait though!
@mo That is precisely it. It took me *a year* in 2020–2021, but I managed to do it. The HMRC claimed I had missed deadlines but they hadn't answered questions. Ultimately, I’ve been able to ship books and other things successfully the UK. Marcin is at the far window of the typical current delay (6+ months so far, IIRC), so we are hoping the # will be issued before we hit the shipping window—it's feasible!
