Apparently the UK Government buried a report on a consultation about rolling back the primacy of metric in products by releasing it on the 27th of December. Over 98% of the approximately 100,000 respondents didn’t want the current regulations to change. Plus 17.1% said we should go full metric. A rump of 0.4% wanted to go full imperial.

The government spun this as a win with the nonsense about allowing wine to be sold in pint bottles. Or 568 ml bottles, as sensible people say.

Tossers.

@ianRobinson I know my consultation response was a drop in the ocean, but I’m happy to have helped contribute to the pro-metric landslide :)

Also, nitpicking their first paragraph: I don’t remember the last time I bought a pint of milk.

@shezza_t @ianRobinson milk should be sold in two measures: metric and “how much I need”.
- 500ml / just a few cereals and some teas, for a day
- 1ltr / cereals, teas, maybe some drinking milk with dinner, for a day or two
- 2ltr / all the usual plus a hot chocolate or Ovaltine, for several days
- 3ltr / I have young children in the house who are lactose tolerant.
