I need some fairytales for girls that aren’t just about princes sexually assaulting sleeping princesses. Even the feminist stories are princesses rescuing princes. Fuck off with romanticising royalty.

My AirPods Max are called Mo’s AirPods Max. For reasons that I won’t go into I have a second pair of AirPods Max, so I called them Mo’s SpairPods Max. I will never not find this hilarious.

Portugal's infrastructure minister gets it:

“If we simply replace all combustion cars with electric cars, we will end up with the same kind of congestion, the same huge amount of lost time in traffic, the same unsustainable levels of road accidents, and the same struggle for public space."

“The car overwhelmed city life and it is something that must change.”

In the 18th century, novels were seen as disgusting brain rot, and now we set goals of how many we should virtuously read per year.

I wonder, in 300 years, what kids will be doing that makes their parents bemoan how few video games anyone plays anymore, how badly reaction times and hand eye coordination have plummeted among the young.

you ever think about how snow crash was meant to be a dystopia,

but living in a storage unit with power + plumbing sounds a lot better than living out of a van in a walmart carpark, shitting in a bucket, stealing wifi off taco bell

let alone how instead of a fantasy world, we have a metaverse where you wear a suit and tie avatar and attend corporate all hands

We need to stop treating not putting the heating on as some sort of valorous feat of self control, and start treating it as the symptom of the collapse of society that it is.

when peace comes at last, children play on the old battlefields and don't think of what came before them

@LeifB73 I’ve been here, almost 20 years, and I’ve never found that (but my partner has perhaps on occasion, suggested that my perception of these things is crap). I will say they mostly seem to want to know if I’m American or not. Most people are not disappointed that I’m Canadian. And I think I get a few extra points for being from the French part of the country.

My career as a disabled artist who makes art about my experiences as a disabled trans person can be summed up via an excerpt from the last grant rejection letter I received:

“…while the members of the selection panel felt your art was evocative, accomplished, and beautiful, we collectively felt the subject matter of disability would disturb and upset art patrons. Your work was ultimately rejected because we felt it wouldn’t resonate with the public.”

…My reality.

Things we didn't do:
- Start the fire
- Shoot the deputy
- Steal the cookies from the cookie jar

Things we did:
- Tried to fight it
- Shot the sheriff
- Put the sham in the shama-lama-ding-dong

Things we will do:
- Survive
- Rock you
- Walk 500 miles
- Walk 500 more

Things we won't do:
- Get fooled again
- Back down
- That

Things we will never do:
- Give you up
- Let you down
- Run around
- Desert you

(Oops:
- I did it again)

I must confess that when I was younger I expected the future to have more robot butlers and jetpacks, and less plague and fascism, but here we are.
