There is no such thing as a “job creator.” There are employers, who hire employees, *because they need them*. And then employers pay the employees less than the value they generate. That’s the system. How did we get to the point at which people behave as if the wealthy are giving a gift to working people? I realize it’s not a new attitude, but it remains proudly f’d up.
@mishellbaker I was into Hardy Boys and Black Stallion books. As a teen it was any and all fantasy.
Can we also take a moment to note that "woke", as used here, was originally a Black American term for being aware of systemic racism, and in just a few years, the US right turned it into a totally content-free sneer? And the entire English-speaking media basically just ran with it, to the extent that you now hear it used in _Finnish_?
Because that's white supremacy for you. Criticism, even awareness, of the racist power structure will not be tolerated.
@miss_s_b so well said!!
UKpol, NHS, Healthcare provision
If I hear one more person wittering on about "efficiency savings" in the #NHS I'm going to scream. The NHS has been pared to the bone in the name of efficiency savings and it does not work because you can't predict exactly when or how people are going to need the service.
I don't want the NHS to be efficient. I want it to have the capacity to deal with whatever gets thrown at it. I WANT there to be empty beds, because that means there's nobody waiting for a bed. I WANT Doctors to spend a certain amount of their day twiddling their thumbs, because that means people aren't stuck waiting in pain and desperation.
Am i weird?
I've just migrated to the peoplemaking.games instance, so here's another #gamedev #introduction post!
I'm Josiah, a localization director with a deep passion for narrative.
In addition to handling English translation duties and managing localization workflows and schedules, I also co-write scripts, assist with scenario planning, oversee motion capture, and direct voice recording, with my duties varying from project to project.
Outside of work I'm still an avid gamer, and a nearly just as avid reader. Lately I've been pretty heavy on science fiction and fantasy, making a point to read all the Hugo shortlist novels, novellas, novelettes, and short stories each year since 2020.
I live in #Osaka with my partner and our two cats. I'm also queer, and a strong supporter of #TransRights and #BlackLives, and as such will boost liberally. 💖💜💙

‘Perhaps this wasn't the best choice from the Northern Ireland Office PR team, or the party leaders for that matter. A swanky hotel and Cheshire cat smiles while the public watches on struggling with bills and crying out for help less than 10 days before Christmas in the depths of winter.’
