@aidan_walsh bloody foreigners, coming over here, taking our protests…

@stuart nice! I do love apps with a hint of personality.

I love that Letterboxd shows a pink heart when you heart the movie (instead of the usual orange).

@bigzaphod the humans were VC-funded allowing the inferior product to grow market share and squeeze out the competition.

@seanddotmedotuk “we’ve all flown here at a cost of massive amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, and it’s terrible that climate change has impacted us in this way”

@flockofnazguls@mastodon.flockofnazguls.com ha! I was cursing the lack of a 5th option as well! Document would definitely be my choice too.

Current status: siphoning water from the 12ft pool in the back garden that had started to overflow with the amount of rain while we were away over the last 2 weeks. It was kinda turning into an infinity pool, I guess, but the extra volume of water was putting too much strain on the sides of the pool. Which kinda reflects how my clothes feel after the last 2 weeks of eating and drinking.

@flockofnazguls@mastodon.flockofnazguls.com I love Zooropa as well. Basically I love everything from The Unforgettable Fire to Pop, and like a few albums either side of that. Pop has a special place in my heart; I queued up to get my copy at midnight at a record store in Belfast and had a great night listening to it. The Popmart tour hit Belfast that year and I managed to go to it. The buzz in the city around the gig was amazing; never experienced anything like it since.

@intheseheels @stuart @theronster trying to find a time when I can go with the kids. Gonna try to get them up to Belfast some day I’m in the office and we can try the new cinema at Castlecourt.

@flockofnazguls@mastodon.flockofnazguls.com Pop 🙂

A person walks out of the pub toilets and asks to speak to the manager. When the manager comes over, the person says “I have to tell you, there’s a buffalo standing by the sink trying to help people out.” The manager replies: “I’m sorry, that’s not a buffalo. It’s a wash-hand bison.”

@yougenius curse Roland for reusing the numbers. I always loved that the original set of machines seemed to skip 404 🙂

@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk I work in AdTech and while there’s a lot of effort goes into figuring out exactly who you are (“what precise demographic information you have grandma!” “all the better to advertise to you”) there’s only so much that can be determined with accuracy. You can be an outlier for a targeting demographic, but if it’s all they have to go on, they’ll take a shot. We remember the times they get it right with the scatter gun way more than we remember the times they get it wrong.

@bw if you ever do, I can recommend this place on AirBnB: abnb.me/7CEVCQLlxBb

I can recommend it because it’s my retirement plan! My wife and I always wanted to move to the coast, and we decided to go for it now as a second home, and eventually make it our primary home. To be able to enjoy it while the kids are young is a big bonus! 🙂

@bw we have Amazon in Northern Ireland. There’s the whole “being in the UK” downside, but on the plus side we the same people and we have the whiskey too. 🙂

@lexfri it’s all the Guinness. Produces leaden poops that need a bit of help on their way!

Up until undo functionality was invented in the late 60s, there was a single universe. Since then, every time someone Cmd-Z’d something on their computer, it created an alternate universe, one in which the task was never undone. Now there are a nearly infinite number of universes.
