Have also ordered a couple of AY-3-8910A ICs from eBay. I’ll probably do some initial prototyping with an Arduino, and then see if I can hook it into a Eurorack form factor.

@bigzaphod oh and I have an Ember mug charger beside the kettle, and my family members are prone to removing my Ember charger while plugging something else in, then not plug my charger back in afterwards. Expletives become involved!

@bigzaphod sometimes (but not consistently) my partner will switch the kettle off at the wall (let’s not get into that UK quirk) when we go away for a few days, and that first cup of tea on return does not go to plan!

@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson and yeah, I think I’m going to update the Wikipedia article on The Troubles to say that when The Troubles ended it was immediately followed by The Squabbles.

@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson I think I’ve got a new trick though. I ordered synth stuff from Barcelona recently and they dropped the VAT because it was a UK address, but then it seemed to escape customs because my NI address is in the EU for goods and services. Finally a dividend to being in this little country of squabbles!

@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson I’d love to get some more PCalc t-shirts, but I can’t justify the shipping costs that often double the item prices. And I’ve been stung by customs on top of that as well in the past!

The latest purchase to avoid making actual music is the Befaco Chikipower. I have an idea I want to develop on a breadboard and a separate power supply would be a sensible idea. Now to figure out how to get the ICs that I’ll need.

@schwa in seriousness though, I have a real issue with the people selling what stock is available. I can’t remember the last time any of my usual haunts offered standalone Pis. When they come back in stock they are always part of a “starter kit” which invariably means that they are bundled with a load of accessories that some people may need, but for me anyway are just wasted. But the resellers make bigger margins on the kits, so they’re happy.

@schwa you can’t get them because most of the inventory is tucked away on desk drawers around the world “just in case I have an idea for one”.

Now is the awkward time between RSUs vesting, and the trading window reopening. If I could exercise today, it’d be a nice amount towards the mortgage, but there’s still 2+ weeks before I can exercise anything and of course there’s a company earnings announcement before then.

@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk that suitcase is beautiful! I wonder if there’s one with some green in it…

@ricobeck it took me a few seconds to understand the hashtag! It’s roughly “Sea Wednesday”, right?

@ricobeck the factory reset isn’t working, like the poster on Reddit mentioned. Though I might keep trying since the OP said they eventually got the reset to work!

Maybe I should create a Mastodon bot account posting every code that I attempt.

@ultranurd I’ve already tried 420 just in case 🙂

Because I thought I was setting a temperature preset I’ve prioritised multiples of 10 around 400°C. And values like 25’s and 75’s. Still nothing!

So apparently I put a lock code into my soldering iron while trying to set a temperature preset, but I have no idea what the code was.

This is why I now have a spreadsheet of all the numbers between 1 and 999 so that I can record which ones I’ve tried.

@acf I’ve got 13, 16, and 18 here. From original release!

@bazscott I suffered from imposter syndrome a lot before then. Now it’s awful. I’m convinced I’m going to be found out any minute!
