if someone writes to you "we need to talk" write back "we certainly do" so they'll feel stressed too

As per my last Slack message. No not that thread. Not that one either. It was in this channel. Oops no it was in this one. Or was it? This week? Last week? What were we talking about?

Keep seeing posts about how the fandom wikis suck now so I'm just sharing that you can put "anti" in front of 'fandom' in the link and get an actual usable wiki page

Blender (the open-source 3D animation/modeling software) is hiring a macOS developer. You could make one of the most successful open-source projects shine on the Mac.

If you have any questions about #Nigeria feel free to ask me.

My qualifications: I'm Nigerian - from the East, lived in the Middle Belt, the North, and in the West. I'm a Christian Igbo, grew up with Muslim Hausas, married to a Christian-Muslim Yoruba. I speak a bit of Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba.

I don't expect you to know much about Nigeria, so I won't consider anything you ask to be stupid, ignorant or racist.

#AMA

Ordered a book via ethicalbooksearch.com and it even cost me less than it would have at Waterstones or Amazon. Feels good.

@tripu Makes sense 👍

My two takeaways here are:
1. Think broader than the nuclear family.
2. Don't engage with social media during work calls 😜

@tripu What/where is that? My first thought would be that the remaining 16.8% is something like "not clear cut", but I don't even know what the context is, or if that's even your question 🙂

My new favourite Ruby debugger commands are:

* `break @foo.bar` (break if `bar` is called on the object `@foo`)
* `catch Foo` (break if `Foo` is raised)
* `watch @foo` (break if the variable `@foo` changes)

All three can be followed by `if:` to only break if a condition is true

STOP SAVING DAYLIGHT

* CLOCKS WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CHANGED TWICE A YEAR

* YEARS OF 'SAVING' yet NO NET GAIN OF DAYLIGHT

* Sunset keeps getting earlier by a few minutes per day, which is sad but we can adjust to it, but then BAM we are all supposed to change the clocks so that it's suddenly A FULL HOUR EARLIER and it's PITCH DARK AFTER WORK what the hell.

"Hello I would like my saved daylight back please"

They have played us for absolute fools.

people always apologise for things like ‘I recognise this was offensive’ when the actual issue with what they’ve said is it’s factually inaccurate and practically harmful

Introducing Masto Reader. Like Thread Reader App, but for Mastodon.

How does it work? Mention @mastoreaderio(@mastodon.social) anywhere in a thread and say "unroll" and the little bot will do the rest.

Here's an example (that takes a bit to load for reasons)

mastoreader.io/?url=https%3A%2

You can share those links with others.

Links to the crappy source code can be found in the bot's profile.

Everything runs in your browser. The server doesn't log anything either.

Enjoy and spread the word.

@adactio just in case this gets misinterpreted, those robes are used in Catholic traditions that predate other uses that might spring to mind in other cultural spheres. For example: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_W

@noracodes We would if we could. I've been yelling internally that we need to spend more time investigating if there are loopholes we can use, but unfortunately the current understanding is that we cannot prevent any member in good standing from joining, nor can we deny them benefits we provide to other members

The SI standard measurement for setting fire to a pile of money should be the Musk.

Large at first glance, when broken down, it is quite reasonable for daily use.

1 Musk = $44 Billion. Useful for government level mistakes. Brexit costs the UK 2.8 Musks/yr

1 millimusk = $44,000,000. Southwest's holiday meltdown cost 20 millimusks.

1 micromusk = $44,000, business level or bad personal decision mistakes like wrecking a car

1 nanomusk = $44, good for day to day crappy decisions

#musk

Ontologically¹, Jewish holidays are classified as some combination of the following three descriptors:
► They tried to kill us
► We survived
► Let's Eat
► TREES!

As you can see, half of the holidays include "let's eat" (also, point of fact: half of these holidays are also "they tried to kill us"—not mutually exclusively). Understandably, Sophie prefers these.
