@bazscott There's a hidden agenda here, wherein you try to get people to stop using foo and bar so that they go straight to Baz instead. I'm onto you!
@acf It's okay. Lego is a time machine of sorts, because you can always go back and make the choice again.
I’m becoming obsessed with #ShakmatModular’s module names. I was immediately intrigued by the Bard Quartet, but I’m now hankering after the Harlequin’s Context, the Mod Medusa, the Time Wizard, and the Knight’s Gallop, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the release of the Banshee Reach. It’s like, are these #Eurorack modules or RPG characters?
⚠️🇺🇦It seems there is a purposeful rewriting of Ukraine history by Western media saying “The war has only lasted 368 days, or 1 year.” Repeating this misinformation allows Russia to claim Crimea was legally annexed in 2014, and only territory after the 2022 full-scale invasion should be negotiated. Please help prevent this from happening, as 8 years of history would be erased, and illegal annexations acknowledged. Crimea is Ukraine, and its been 9 years of war / invasion not just one. #Ukraine
@flockofnazguls@mas.to @modularsynth @synths yeah, but no mention of the fact that Plaits and Marbles are discontinued (though available as clones), and that Pam’s New Workout has been superseded by Pro Workout.
@ianRobinson I could see them doing an ad-supported version of AppleTV+ though. Disney have done it, and I think it’s going well for them. From Apple’s perspective, they’re leaving money on the table if they don’t have an option for people who don’t want to subscribe at the current pricing model.
I work in streaming TV advertising these days. For my sins, I’ve started picking up on a lot about the business model.
@ianRobinson it’s possible that it relates to the live sports they’re getting into. Sports are already set up for advertising so I could see them wanting to sticks ads in.
@stuart I’m also re-arranging my modular synth stuff, because re-arranging everything means never having to make any music.
@stuart I got a bunch of plastic tubs from IKEA for tidying the garage, and I’m also planning on separating a bunch of mixed up Lego into the original sets for passing on to new owners.
@stuart ooooh! Whatcha doin’?
@warringtonruncorn yeah, it's all crumbling leisure centres and community halls 🙂
@warringtonruncorn Here's a thought – what about a WRNTDP tour that only stops at the UK’s new towns? 🙂
@warringtonruncorn I only discovered your music last week, and I'm blown away by it. I grew up in Craigavon, a new town in Northern Ireland, and the imagery and sounds of your music resonates deeply as a result! Sometimes I reckon you should be pairing up with the Scarfolk people to do a soundtrack!
I've managed to bag a vinyl copy of People and Industry from your Bandcamp. Is there any prospect of further vinyl represses of IRM79 and DROS? And will there be a vinyl pressing of the new album?
@stuart just one port. Nice.
@krzyzanowskim @schwa @jonstodle @amyworrall yet I've heard people explain away Apple's higher EU pricing as factoring in the extended warranty costs.
@schwa @jonstodle @amyworrall I think we effectively have this in the UK as well. I’m pretty confident that there was a requirement for a 2 year warranty by EU law. I was also watching something recently that said that UK law requires products to be fit for purpose for a reasonable period of time. If, for example, Apple provide OS updates for your phone for 7 years, a hardware failure within 7 years is not fit for purpose.
@schwa @amyworrall if they can’t make the repair process more affordable, then they should really be offering longer warranties. There’s just way too much electronics being junked because it’s too expensive for consumers to repair.
I'm Maurice Kelly, a software engineer who sold his soul to management. To redeem myself I try to make music, but in reality what I'm doing is making a big pile of synthesisers all in one place and changing how they are connected on a regular basis.
