Wherein I use the C word…
@ianRobinson got the same from EE. They make out like they’ve got no choice, but if they’re not giving their employees a 10.5% payrise, then I want to know why they’re sticking quite so much on our bills.
@lexfri well somebody got Joe a wee trip to Kyiv. That was nice.
@BeebsyMcA @shezza_t @emmaaum We should make #Dogegal a thing.
@BenRiceM I'm looking forward to a podcast all about Zombie Sharknado!
@BenRiceM unless the zombies get eaten by sharks. I don't know what caused the zombie outbreak in TWD, but if enough sharks are eating enough zombies it's got to jump species at some stage. Sooooo, zombie sharks that can't die if they're out of water…
@BenRiceM Hey Ben. I was listening to an older episode of The Cast of Us, and had been at the point where you, Tiff, and Brian were talking about Fear the Walking Dead; specifically about zombies floating out to sea.
This caused me to think: does the possibility of floating zombies imply the possibility of a Great Pacific Zombie Patch out there in the ocean?
TFW you do the right thing and hold off on buying a #eurorack DIY kit, but then you find it's not only out of stock but looks like it’s out of the entire production run too. That'll teach me for ignoring my GAS.
@caseyliss @jamesthomson @lexfri @BenRiceM this conversation just got heated. We’re talking Centigrade heated.
@joshua I think it only needs to do 2MHz, so it should be fine for prototyping (I think an Arduino can do 8MHz). I’ll probably need an oscillator for the real deal though.
Have also ordered a couple of AY-3-8910A ICs from eBay. I’ll probably do some initial prototyping with an Arduino, and then see if I can hook it into a Eurorack form factor.
@bigzaphod oh and I have an Ember mug charger beside the kettle, and my family members are prone to removing my Ember charger while plugging something else in, then not plug my charger back in afterwards. Expletives become involved!
@bigzaphod sometimes (but not consistently) my partner will switch the kettle off at the wall (let’s not get into that UK quirk) when we go away for a few days, and that first cup of tea on return does not go to plan!
@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson and yeah, I think I’m going to update the Wikipedia article on The Troubles to say that when The Troubles ended it was immediately followed by The Squabbles.
@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson I think I’ve got a new trick though. I ordered synth stuff from Barcelona recently and they dropped the VAT because it was a UK address, but then it seemed to escape customs because my NI address is in the EU for goods and services. Finally a dividend to being in this little country of squabbles!
@antonyjohnston @jamesthomson I’d love to get some more PCalc t-shirts, but I can’t justify the shipping costs that often double the item prices. And I’ve been stung by customs on top of that as well in the past!
@schwa in seriousness though, I have a real issue with the people selling what stock is available. I can’t remember the last time any of my usual haunts offered standalone Pis. When they come back in stock they are always part of a “starter kit” which invariably means that they are bundled with a load of accessories that some people may need, but for me anyway are just wasted. But the resellers make bigger margins on the kits, so they’re happy.
@schwa you can’t get them because most of the inventory is tucked away on desk drawers around the world “just in case I have an idea for one”.
@shezza_t @seanddotmedotuk that suitcase is beautiful! I wonder if there’s one with some green in it…
I'm Maurice Kelly, a software engineer who sold his soul to management. To redeem myself I try to make music, but in reality what I'm doing is making a big pile of synthesisers all in one place and changing how they are connected on a regular basis.
