I’m not sure any software makes me feel as good about computers as spreadsheets do.

I don’t mind getting an item from IKEA that has been returned and repackaged as new, but it’d be nice if they had checked that the returned materials included all parts. The instruction booklet was in two parts, one part folded, the parts packet arrived ripped open, and the parts were wrong (as compared to the booklet).

I’ve worked in tech for 21 years. I decided today that I was overdue in joining a union. Really grateful for the United Tech and Allied Workers branch of the CWU attending the exhibitors hall at NIDevConf a couple of weekends ago.

You don’t make a quarterly revenue of almost 20 billion dollars by keeping prices the same instead of gouging your customers when the opportunity arises.

He has waited years for us to change the sofa so that he would eventually have his natural camouflage become effective…

@atpfm tangentially related to the discussion of AirPods Pro as hearing protection, I usually wear my AirPods Max as ear defenders when I'm mowing the lawn. Every time, without fail, my Apple Watch will give me a Loud Environment warning. I really wish the watch could interrogate the phone to discover that I'm wearing AirPods Max in noise-cancelling mode.

On the web it is being “fireballed”. On Mastodon it is being “Melt(on)ed”. Always a pleasure @lisamelton!!

Them: Ha! It's not “Waynescoting”! It’s “wainscoting”!

Me: ... Well, shit.

Transferring an eSIM during migration between two iPhones was a remarkably straightforward experience today. This was my first migration post eSIM adoption and I had visions of lengthy support conversations with my carrier to make it work.

I was convinced that nothing was more straightforward than SIM eject and manual transfer. The reality was so smooth that I’m probably going to convert my kids’ phones over to eSIMs ASAP now.

DHL can feck right off with their delivery date of 25th of September. Failing to deliver a day of release iPhone on iPhone release day is like a war crime, right?

Got this email today; can’t believe the iCloud team didn’t wait and offer me the new tiers. It’s like one part of the company doesn’t talk to the other. Doomed.

What if the best value you can give to shareholders is making a better world?

It’s an orange vinyl night apparently.
