@bw if you ever do, I can recommend this place on AirBnB: abnb.me/7CEVCQLlxBb

I can recommend it because it’s my retirement plan! My wife and I always wanted to move to the coast, and we decided to go for it now as a second home, and eventually make it our primary home. To be able to enjoy it while the kids are young is a big bonus! 🙂

@bw we have Amazon in Northern Ireland. There’s the whole “being in the UK” downside, but on the plus side we the same people and we have the whiskey too. 🙂

@lexfri it’s all the Guinness. Produces leaden poops that need a bit of help on their way!

Up until undo functionality was invented in the late 60s, there was a single universe. Since then, every time someone Cmd-Z’d something on their computer, it created an alternate universe, one in which the task was never undone. Now there are a nearly infinite number of universes.

@stuart excellent. That was a lot of people queuing. Hopefully they have some left for the next sale! Which night did you get?

@intheseheels @shezza_t @stuart yous look like you might be haunting the darts area.

@chartier you’re doing it exactly the way I think it should be done. I’ve often wondered about working for Shiny Frog. Not sure I have the technical skills anymore, and I’m probably too addicted to AdTech money!

@chartier the folks on the subreddit banging on about Bear 2 taking too long we’re doing my head in. It’s like they paid for a month’s subscription of v1and immediately said “I demand version 2 now!” Even people who were long term subscribers had this attitude of “ive been paying all this time for Bear 2, where is it?” There’s a real cognitive dissonance there. Your ongoing subscription is not a down payment on the next version!

@ellyjohnston @shezza_t when I arrived at work on Thursday (Donegall Place) there was quite a commotion with gulls. Turned out there were people cleaning our roof and the gulls were attacking them because the chicks were nesting up there. Someone was on guard with a stick to defend the rest of them cleaning.

Also we get better Internet here than at home, so it makes sense to just live here forever. Tomorrow I’m installing all the latest Apple betas cause the connection is 10 times faster.

Last year my wife and I bought a house in Ballycastle. We’ve stayed in it lots since then but this is our first “summer holiday” here that wasn’t living in a building site. It feels amazing. Some folks like to go away to other countries, but we mostly like to stay closer to home. In fact, this feels like home. Now to plan for retirement here…

The interior angle of the pizza slice emoji in the Apple emoji set 🍕is 48.5556º, implying that the pizza was cut into a very awkward 7.4 slices. (Or that somewhere there exists another 48º slice and two corresponding 41.4444º slices)

@simon @intheseheels I met Simon through a combination of Twitter and conferences. No matter what it’s become, it was definitely once an amazing way to interact with people. Like Usenet. And some Slack communities.

@intheseheels see I missed your career change because I wasn’t on Twitter at all!

@stuart @intheseheels I keep the official app for pushes, but can’t remember the last time I received anything.

Which is weird, in retrospect. I spent a lot of time on Twitter and left it pretty cleanly in the end.

@intheseheels I stopped posting and replying to things on Twitter a long time ago. I’ll reply to DMs but I can’t even remember the last time I received one. I stopped browsing Twitter completely when they blocked 3rd-party clients. I don’t miss it at all.
