Got this email today; can’t believe the iCloud team didn’t wait and offer me the new tiers. It’s like one part of the company doesn’t talk to the other. Doomed.

What if the best value you can give to shareholders is making a better world?

It’s an orange vinyl night apparently.

Hello to my new followers and job people.

I’m iain, a remote macOS developer based in the UK. I’ve had 20+ years experience of being remote so I know how to handle it.

For the last 8 years I worked on Visual Studio for Mac and was responsible for making it accessible and rewriting the UI shell into native Cocoa. I miss it, it was a good IDE and a good project RIP. I know hoW to write Swift&ObjC as well as C#.

I also have a passion for media based apps and write sample editors and VJ apps for fun (no profit). I like writing apps.

So #fedihire whatcha got for me?

Friendship ended with ear wax removal vids on TikTok. Now sewer unblocking vids on TikTok is my best friend.

For the love of all that is holy, please Apple can you just update your Irish English dictionary in iOS to include boke, boking, and boked. I need these words to be recognised, and when I’m dealing with a boking situation I don’t want to be correcting your bullshit!

Built myself a Mod Medusa today (by Shakmat Modular). I think I’m in love with the Shakmat aesthetic.

There needs to be an Apple Fitness workout for carrying a coffin. Cardio + strength training. Special workout for carrying it up the stairs.

I love that Letterboxd shows a pink heart when you heart the movie (instead of the usual orange).

Current status: siphoning water from the 12ft pool in the back garden that had started to overflow with the amount of rain while we were away over the last 2 weeks. It was kinda turning into an infinity pool, I guess, but the extra volume of water was putting too much strain on the sides of the pool. Which kinda reflects how my clothes feel after the last 2 weeks of eating and drinking.

A person walks out of the pub toilets and asks to speak to the manager. When the manager comes over, the person says “I have to tell you, there’s a buffalo standing by the sink trying to help people out.” The manager replies: “I’m sorry, that’s not a buffalo. It’s a wash-hand bison.”

Up until undo functionality was invented in the late 60s, there was a single universe. Since then, every time someone Cmd-Z’d something on their computer, it created an alternate universe, one in which the task was never undone. Now there are a nearly infinite number of universes.

Also we get better Internet here than at home, so it makes sense to just live here forever. Tomorrow I’m installing all the latest Apple betas cause the connection is 10 times faster.

Last year my wife and I bought a house in Ballycastle. We’ve stayed in it lots since then but this is our first “summer holiday” here that wasn’t living in a building site. It feels amazing. Some folks like to go away to other countries, but we mostly like to stay closer to home. In fact, this feels like home. Now to plan for retirement here…
